Information
Crescendo
International Music Competition is
annual music competition for youth. The
Competition will be held in various venues
throughout New
York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Canada,
Germany, Austria and Russia
from December 3 and 4, 2011
through February 4, 2012.

Eligibility
Crescendo
International Music Competition is open to all instrumentalists (Piano,
Strings, and Winds), duets, ensembles and vocalists ages 5-21.
Contestants will be grouped
according to their age as a December 1, 2011.
Dependant on skill level,
contestants will be placed in one of three competing categories:
Junior, Intermediate or Advanced.
Application
Procedure
A. An original copy of the
application must be submitted via one of two options:
1. Mail. We ask that you do not
send the application by certified mail, and would like to remind you
that handwritten applications will not be accepted.
2. E-Mailed to
info@crescendocompetition.org. To avoid any misspelling and legibility
issues, we prefer to receive applications in electronic format. Kindly
specify payment type (check number or money order) in the upper right
corner of the application.
B. A non-refundable
registration fee of 65.00 USD will be assessed. Checks and money orders
should be made payable to Crescendo Competitions, Inc., and are to be
submitted along with the completed application(s) to: Crescendo
Competitions, 4 Lyons Place, East Hanover, NJ 07936. We will only
accept ONE check from teachers, no exceptions will be granted.
C. Due to inclement weather,
registration has been extending until 21st of November, 2011.
Repertoire
a.
One major Baroque, Classical, Romantic or Modern work must be chosen
and performed from memory (Arrangements, simplified editions, popular
music and/or non-classical music from method books are not acceptable).
b. No
changes in the submitted repertoire may be made once a contestant is
admitted.
c.
Performance time must not exceed 6 minutes. In accordance with strict
contractual obligations imposed by Carnegie Hall, performers will be
charged a fee of 100 USD when exceeding the allotted performance time.
Audition
a.
Auditions will be held on December 3rd and 4th on the following dates:
1. Monmouth
Academy of Musical Arts, 1230 Campus Drive West, Morganville, NJ, 07751.
2. Caldwell
College, 120 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, NJ, 07006.
3.
Westminster Choir College at Rider University, 101 Walnut Lane,
Princeton NJ 08540.
4. McGill
Conservatoire, Montréal, Canada.
For
auditions in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Canada,
Germany, Austria and Russia, please contact the competition coordinator.
b. The
original score will be given by the judge. No make ups will be allowed,
and the ruling passed by the judge will be final.
c. All
contestants must wear proper attire. It is the responsibility of the
proctor to inform their students that no jeans, short skirts, sneakers,
or boots will be allowed.
Recitals
A. A
concert for those who achieved First and Second place honors will be
held at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, 154 West 57th Street,
New York, NY on the following dates:
January 15
(1:30 PM & 7:30 PM)
January 22
(1:30 PM & 7:30 PM)
January 28
(1:30 PM & 7:30 PM)
February 4,
2012 (1:30 PM & 7:30 PM)
*A recital
fee of 180 USD will be assessed.
*Please
note that the use of cameras, camcorders or any audio/visual recording
devices is strictly forbidden by Carnegie Hall.
B. A
concert for those who achieved Third place honors will be held at the
Alumni Theatre at Caldwell College, 120 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell, NJ
07006 on January 28 at 5:00 PM A recital fee of 100 USD will be
assessed.
C.
Performers must be present until the conclusion of the recital in order
to participate in the award presentation. No diplomas or medals will be
sent via mail.
D. All
contestants must confirm their participation in the Winner’s Concerts
by December 20th, 2011.
E. The fees
assessed for each concert will include four (4) complimentary tickets,
board certification and trophies/medals.

PRIZES
Grand
Prize - $1,000; First Prize - $500; Second
Prize - $300; Third Prize - $200.
The awards
system is established in a manner which those who receive first place
honors are not necessarily predisposed to receive a prize. An
applicant's placement does not always correspond to the prize they
receive. With that being said, only judges may promote a winner's prize
in the case of a special achievement.
All
winners are eligible to participate in the upcoming International
Student Exchange Program (SEP) hosted throughout USA, Canada, Germany,
Austria, Russia and China.

be purchased for each respective concert for the amount listed below:

College - $25 USD

payable to Crescendo Competitions, Inc., to: Crescendo Competition, 4

please specify for which concert and how many tickets you wish to
purchase.
